7800N Cannot delete static DNS entry

Post by Trippnology » Tue Oct 02, 2018 10:42 am

Hi all,

I added an entry under Advanced > Static DNS (a host called "cache" at 192.168.0.60) and used this for a few months. Yesterday I wished to update that machine to use 192.168.0.10 instead. I updated the entry to the new IP, but the router instead returns both the old and new IPs when queried:

Code: Select all

$> nslookup cache 192.168.0.1
Server: gateway.<my local domain>
Address: 192.168.0.1

Name: cache.<my local domain>
Addresses: 192.168.0.60
          192.168.0.10
I have tried deleting the entry again, rebooting, and then creating the entry again, but it still returns the old IP, even when the entry has been deleted. Is there a way to clear this old entry without hard resetting the router?

My bad, there was still an entry under for this machine under Configuration > DHCP Server > Fixed Hosts which must automatically create a DNS record too. Once this was deleted, I get the expected single IP from a DNS query.
