7800N keeps rebooting

Post by adrianw »

My 7800N has started rebooting itself several times a day.

How can I find out what might be causing this?

When I look at the log I only find entries for what has happened since the reboot.

Is it true that after a few years' use this is likely to happen and the only cure is a new router?

It might be a hardware fault, if it is, then you might need to purchase a new router (assuming your is out of warranty)

Test to perform is to leave the device on without anything connected for 24 hours, then login and check the system up time, if it does not show near 24 hours system up time, then it looks like a hardware fault.

Have you checked with your ISP to see if there are any problems on the line and is the router plugged into the master socket - I'm assuming an ADSL connection.
