Hello people,
So I have bought a Billion BiPAC 8800AXL to replace my HH5 from BT.
I am awaiting delivery and wondered how easy it was to set up for plusnet - I have a static IP and use an Apple Mac.
Cheers,
Rick.

Great - it is coming tomorrow - another user on a different forum advised these steps:
Rick.
Does that sound ok?In the QUICK START menu:
WAN Interface ( WAN > Wireless )
Main Port = DSL
Layer 2 Interface = PTM (VDSL)
Type = PPPoE
Username = *********@plusdsl.net (******** = your username that you login in with) , You'll enter this on the next screen IIRC.
WAN IP Address = Obtain an IP Address Automatically
Click Continue.
WAN Interface ( WAN > Wireless ) 2nd Screen.
WAN Service.
Type = PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
Username = *********@plusdsl.net (******** = your username that you login in with)
Password = The one you login with.
Service Name = Plusnet (Can be blank)
Authentication Method = CHAP (Can be AUTO, but found it works better if you select CHAP)
IPv4 Address = Static (UNCHECKED, unless you have a static IP)
IP Address = Will be blanked out unless above is checked in which case enter your IP address.
IPv6 for this service = Enable (UNCHECKED)
MTU = 1492
Click Continue & WAIT for about 15-20 seconds, if you've done it all correctly it will connect.
Rick.

Incidently, I have a static IP - so do I check where it says IPv4 address and enter the one assigned to me by pn?
Also, I want to change my DNS - do I do this by checking 'use static DNS' and enter the ones I want to use?
Cheers,
Rick.

Normally you can leave the IP address section blank, the IP address the router obtains from the ISP is normally your static IP addressricke17 wrote:Incidently, I have a static IP - so do I check where it says IPv4 address and enter the one assigned to me by pn?

Yes if you wish to use static DNS servers, select the option and enter your DNS servers

Awesome - thanks ever so much.
I will follow your guide and post back when everything is up and working.
Currently using the HH5 which is very good but I want to be able to have a router which I can configure etc and after lots of research I found this one to be the best. I got it for such a bargain too (£120!).
Cheers,
Rick.
