Wireless LED going like crazy on 7800N with no traffic

Post by eightace »

I am on firmware 1.06d and the wireless LED is flashing on and off continuously even when not transmitting data wirelessly. Is this normal? DHCP table says I have no other wireless connections other than my own so I am not hacked.
Any way of stopping this except turning the wifi off?

At a guess, this could be down to errors on the line as the broadband is still coming down the line to your router, even when you aren't using it and if the error count is high, then this could manifest itself by lag when browsing or a loss of throughput.

It may be worth checking these and your SNRM via Telnet when you see it happening as well as the router system log.

A factory reset may stabalise the busy action or it could be just down to the adverse weather conditions.

It may also be worth plugging just a corded phone into the master socket, dialling a single digit and listen for any noise on the line, such as crackling etc before the recorded message kicks in.

This is normal the router is always broadcasting its SSID and signal for other clients.… or looking for other wireless clients

This may be because of the weather. This is normal.
