Hello
Firstly may I say I have a very limited technical knowledge but a very curious mind.
I have a Billion router with a Seagate Central NAS drive attached. When indoors on my own network
I can access the NAS dive from both my laptop and my iPad Air. What I would like to be able to do
Is access the NAS drive from my iPad when I am away from home, say from my sons wireless network.
My reading and understanding of setting this up is that it would require my laptop to be running on my
network indoors. There appear to be apps for the iPad which seem to suggest this is possible but the info is very sketchy.
So my question is " is it possible to have a set up whereby my iPad reaches and connects directly though the
Billion router to the NAS drive from outside the network without the need of a computer running at home?"
By now you have probably realised I may unable to achieve this aim without seeking a lot more assistance but
a simple yes or no answer would go a long way to supporting of dismissing this question.
I do appreciate you taking a moment to read this post and hopefully you may shed a little more light on this
subject.
Many thanks Brian

You need to setup a Virtual server rule, (port forwarding) so you can expose the needed ports to the internet so you can access them from a remote connection on your Ipad.
Screen example attached.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

You could also look on the Seagate website, and see if there is any remote access software for your particular NAS. If there is, there may also be an IOS app to make remote access easier for you.

Re: Billion 8800NL Router and NAS drive
Once again thanks for the information. There is indeed an app from Seagate which I downloaded and set up.
It worked fine for a day or so and then threw in the towel.
After a reset and a reinstall it once again worked a little and crashed again.
I will now attempt to set up from the above instructions.
