VPN problems
Hi - I recently bought an 8800NL for us on Plus.net Fibre. So far so good, though I have a couple of issues. One is that I host a VPN server on my network. I've used this server for years and it's always worked fine if I open port 1723 on the router and forward it to the server. I've had this work with two previous routers (one was a Billion 7800N). For some reason on the 8800NL I doesn't work. I've setup other Virtual Server ports on this router and they are working fine, it's just the PPTP which doesn't work. Any ideas?

When you setup the Virtual Server rule did you make sure you selected the correct Interface eg PPPOA for ADSL or PPPOE for VDSL (FTTC)bencook wrote:Hi - I recently bought an 8800NL for us on Plus.net Fibre. Hi, yes I did. I'll try adding it again.

Re: VPN problems
I just recreated the virtual server and it's behaving in the same way. I'd forgotten that I can connect to the VPN, but then can't access anything on my home network. Could it be some sort of routing issue? Nothing has changed on the VPN server for years.

It might be a IP conflict, make sure you home router is running off a different IP range eg 192.168.2.x for home and work is running on 192.168.1.xbencook wrote:I just recreated the virtual server and it's behaving in the same way. Also once you connect to your home network, try access a device using \\192.168.1.x (replacing x with the IP address of your device you want to access) for example

Re: VPN problems
I fixed this in the end by adding the GRE protocol to the virtual servers in NAT. Strange that this wasn't required for my old Billion router.
