Hi
Just got a new 7800n, and tried using http://192.168.1.254/snr.cgi to adjust my SNR - currently the status page shows it as 24.0 up, 13.4 down which seemed a lot.
However, reading through various posts I have tried entering values such as 50,150,65500 and 1, and the SNR doesn't seem to change by more than 0.2.
Should I expect it to change instantly, or does BT's DLM kick in somewhere?
Any advice from BT Broadband users gratefully appreciated.
Shaun
Does changing SNR work with BT Broadband?

I think you and mpooley may have something in common as we've just been working on viewtopic.php?f=9&t=313 and initially there was an increase but it looked like BT's line management was dragging it back.
Given your current Downstream SNRM, are you able to request BT lower your profile to either 9dB or 6dB whichever is the most stable for whatever your Attenuation is.

Hi there
Go to BT's speed test site & run through the test & post back the results - they can be most informative.

Hi, it certainly worked on my Plusnet connection. For me a SNR of 6 offered the best compromise between stability and performance.

But what is the connection you have? If it's their 8meg service then I'm a little surprised as that'll use BT's line manager but if it's their 20meg service then I certainly can see that working.crellster wrote:Hi, it certainly worked on my Plusnet connection. Hi
Never did manage to change it, but BT upgraded me to 20Mb broadband and now the SNR is
SNR Margin(Upstream) 5.4
SNR Margin(Downstream) 3.9
Seems to run pretty close to the stated 20Mb...

Re: Does changing SNR work with BT Broadband?
i have just got a billion 7800N and havnt had change to change the SNR yet
but my old netgear was able to change the SNR on my BT line and it stayed fine.
As im close to the exchange my SNR was like 3.0 and my line was SOLID! that increased my broadband from 14-5MB to 18MB.
Hoping the billion will be as solid with the changes.

Use the http://192.168.1.254/snr.html and start your SNR at 75 once it has resynced check your downstream speed and downstream SNR, if it is above 3db (SNR Downstream) keep dropping the SNR on the hidden page until you can reach a downstream SNR of 3.0. (from 75 >> 60 >> 65 >> 50 etc until you get a SNR downstream of 3db)wifiuk wrote:i have just got a billion 7800N and havnt had change to change the SNR yet

Yes the Billion can handle a low SNR of 3.0db, mine is set to 3.0db at the moment (had to higher the SNR because of line issues was on 2.4db before rock solid)
I hope this helps.

Re: Does changing SNR work with BT Broadband?

I have attached a few pics to demonstrate the current situation. Snr keeps dropping until almost close to zero then bounces back up - although it has reconnected it is not possible to surf or collect emails etc.
The only recourse is to hard reboot the router - even re-sync wont bring it back!!
Any thoughts would be most welcome
