8800AXL R2 - Is my router rebooting?
I'm starting to go mad now, as my previously stable connection, is dropping on a regular basis. I've done all of the tests that I'm cabable of i.e. quiet line, plug modem into master socket, but my line is still dropping regularly. I've been monitoring the logs, dumped to a syslog server, but there's nothing obvious in there. Today, it's happened again, but I noticed in the logs that the first entry after the line drop is 'Jan 1 00:00:17 syslog emerg Router started: BusyBox v1.17.2'. Does this imply that the router has rebooted, as it's restarting its bash shell, and the date is reset, which a line drop shouldn't cause?
Also noticed this, straight after the above log entry: Jan 1 00:00:17 kern err kernel: hub 1-0:1.0: over-current condition on port 2

The reboot issues was resolved on firmware 2.52.d10evansnp wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 6:25 pm I'm starting to go mad now, as my previously stable connection, is dropping on a regular basis. I will be releasing a newer test firmware for Grimmers, which has a new DMT code, maybe you can test it also (just want to make sure the firmware is stable before release)

Understood. Just loaded the firmware ... I'll keep you informed.
PS: was I correct in assuming that the date doesn't get reset, just because the PPP connection drops, and that it's the fact that the modem has rebooted that causes this?

Yes the only time the date within the system log reverts is when the device is rebooted, and hasn't connected to the internet yet to obtain the correct time. (if you are on a older firmware then d10 then this might be expected)
You can also check the system up time on the status page for the most accurate uptime.

There goes that theory! line just dropped again, this time no reboot, just this in the log:
Code: Select all
Apr 3 14:37:31 kern crit kernel: Line 0: xDSL link down

So this time it was the DSL line dropping, you might need to get your ISP to check the line out as something does not sound rightevansnp wrote: ↑Tue Apr 03, 2018 2:43 pm There goes that theory! line just dropped again, this time no reboot, just this in the log:Code: Select all

My thoughts exactly, but BT refused to perform any tests unless there was a BT modem on the end of the cable. Unfortunately, I've taken the plunge, so we'll see what happens.
