My Billion 7800N has logged up 42 days continuously sync'd and connected to my ISP which is the longest I have ever observed with it.
However yesterday strange things started happening with my PC (wired) and laptops (wireless) and Smart TV (wired). They lost connectivity to the Internet, and when I investigated I found they were not getting a proper IP assignment from the router (all my devices are set up to request an IP address from the routers DCHP server).
I managed however to get them all reconnected to the Internet, but only by assigning specific static IP addresses to each device.
So it seems as if the DCHP server in the router has just stopped working.
Is this a known problem when the router has been sync'd and connected for a long period of time?
DCHP stops working?

It is not a known issue, what firmware version are your running?
Also were wireless devices fine after you set a static IP to the device?

Re: DCHP stops working?
Latest f/w (1.06g?)
Also, yes, the wireless continues to work just fine, though **only** if I configure the laptop with a static ip address, the DHCP server doesn't seem to be working for either the wired or wireless connections.
I will try restarting the router later to see if the problem goes away, but I am loathe to do this with a 42 day up-time

Before you restart the router, can you try to add a computer under the 'Fixed Host' option to see if it will assign a IP address to the device.

Thats strange the DHCP server fixed host is still working, have you now tried to set your computer to use the DHCP server to see if they are able to obtain a IP address from the router?

Re: DCHP stops working?
Yes, I did try going back to setting the laptop to use Dynamic IP addressing and it was still causing a problem - it seems that the laptop will eventually get an IP address from the router but it takes absolutely ages (well be 2-3 minutes).
Anyway, for the time being I will stick with static IP addresses but look to do a maintenance router reboot soon.
Thanks
Nigel
