After recrimping/testing/tearing my hair out for a while, I caved in and bought some pre-made Cat 6 cables and they worked flawlessly from the start...

Not an ideal solution, but it worked for me and was preferable to sending the otherwise fantastic router back...
Changed all my cables for cat 6 and only port 1 and 2 works at 1000 all the others are at 100

I guess it'll have to go back in that case. I've only got 2 gigabit devices connected to mine at the moment, but they're working without issue on ports 1 and 4 at the moment...

I wonder if the Cat5 cable 'issue' could be the cause of my problems with my 7800N and Devolo Homeplug adapters.

They connect, but regularly drop off the network, which is infuriating to say the least. Might try some Cat6 cables and see what happens....
