Setting Up DDNS

On the Dynamic DNS tab what does it mean by Period?
The User Manual is, as usual for these, vague to say the least with - Period: Enter the length of the period in the blank, you can set the period unit in day (d), hour (H) or minute (M).
It does not explain what a period is or does.

That just defines how often the 7800 will update the DNS site with your current external IP address.

Mine is set to 8 hours.

My thoughts were that it was the poll period - but I had read somewhere that it updated on change and the default of 28 days seemed out of the ballpark.
