VOIP with 7800N

Post by silverfox »

I have been using VOIP with the 7800N and a Seimens Gigaset S685IP for a couple of years. Suddenly, VOIP has stopped working. The Gigaset base station registers with the VOIP server (Voiptalk) and I can make calls and also incoming calls ring the handset, but there is no sound when the call connects of when I answer an incoming call.

I did notice a few days ago intermittently I would answer calls and couldn't hear anything but that was intermittent and I just thought it was a marketing call, but now no calls work.

I have tried a different router, a fairly cheap one, and VOIP works fine with it.

I have reset the 7800N to factory default and entered everything in again but still no sound on VOIP calls.

Make sure SIP ALG is disabled (under Virtual Server)

Also try and DMZ your IP address of your Voip device to see that makes a difference.

billion_fan == Thanks for the advice. ALG is disabled. I managed to speak to a Billion Tech Support (very good and helpful) who got me to set up DMZ with the Gigaset IP address and it worked.

Update - it worked for outgoing calls but incoming calls still have the problem. Even outgoing calls are intermittent, sometimes work and sometimes don't. I've switched back to my cheap Sitecom router. Very disappointed.

Is your VOIP device using a wired connection or a wireless connection??

Are you using ADSL or Fibre connection??
