Steam - Viewing Game / Server Info

Post by sWi7zLe »

Since getting the 7800N, whenever I try to view server info for games such as TF2 and CS, I have to wait for anything up to 5-10 minutes to get the info. It will just say "Server Not Responding".

If I switch back to another router, like one of the Thomson ones, I get the server info instantly :?

Why is that? Anyone know what could be causing it or knows of a way to fix it?

I've tried opening ports for Steam but it doesn't help.

Im using firmware version 1.06g

Cheers

Have you tried to put your PC into DMZ, under the Virtual Server option, you will need to find out your IP address of your PC first for this test.

If the test works, it means the ports that you have tried to open are incorrect or more ports may need to be opened.

Yes I have, DMZ makes no difference :|

I shouldn't actually need to open ports for this to work with Steam. i don't have to do so with other routers.

If DMZ doesn't work I am not sure what else to try, have you checked your UPNP port map to see if the steam ports are open via UPNP???

Also have you tried firmware 1.06h??

Oops, forgot about this...

Yes I have tried 1.06h and it didn't solve that issue, but instead gave me a new really annoying problem so I went back to 1.06g - After getting to the desktop it could take between 30 seconds to a minute to connect to the internet :?

A friend recently told me that if I spam the Refresh button on the server info screen, the info will appear.

So I guess that will do as a work around and I will no longer have to wait 10 minutes for the info to appear :D
