7800n WiFi Settings

Post by Garyg124 »

Hi & first I'd like to say thanks to for the help I've manage to extract from this site in preperation for my Billion 7800n router installation so I can bin my SKY fibre SR101 router (rubbish wifi)

Any how to my question, if I simply copy over my SSID & WPA2-PSK will all my wifi linked devices (mobiles, SKY HD box, laptop ETC) reconnect to the new Billion router with out any intervention?

Thanks again.

Cheers, I had the SR101 on auto first then found channel 3 to be the best so I set to manual 3. I'll set it all up for that then. :D

Is your post/attachmnet in this post viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2673 the most recent & best way to set up the router ( I have the user & pass ready + I have the latest firmaware UKBillion7800NV6_1.06h.dt2 ready )

Follow these steps (that's a older link for ADSL)

1. Login to the router
2. Click on 'WAN' on the left hand side ( 'Basic Menu')
3. Change the 'Main Port' to 'EWAN'
4. Change the 'Protocol' to 'Obtain a IP address automatically'
5. In 'Client ID' section enter your username followed by '|' and then your password eg username@skydsl|password
6. Click on 'Apply'
7. The router will save and reboot and you should be conncted

Ok router came yesterday & I set it up last night. I can confirm that using the same wireless name & key allowed all devices to reconnect with out any hassle. The Sky HD box just needed a reboot to get it connected to On Demand as it said connected to router but connection to on demand had failed.

So all good, thanks.
