7800DXL ADSL2+ and 4G USB Routing?
Hi,
I have a 7800DXL with a Huawei E5372 currently configured in failover ... works very well.
Got me thinking though .... Can I configure an Extra SSID and force all traffic on this SSID to go via the USB interface?
So ......
1. 7800DXL Ethernet and 7800DXL WiFi > ADSL2+ with failover or USB 4G
2. 7800DXL SSID "4G WiFi" > USB 4G
Reason?
if family are using the ADSL2+ line and I needed to work, I could choose to hop on the other SSID and use the available bandwidth from the 4G.
I tried setting up the second SSID and connected ... all fine. I then created a Policy Based Routing rule that specified the traffic from the WL01GUEST to use the USB ... but I was still routed via the ADSL2+ line.
I then tried the "Source IP" as the subnet/24 same .... could not think what to put in the "Gateway" as that IP will change as it is a mobile dynamic address.
Is this set up even possible?
Thanks in advance

Re: 7800DXL ADSL2+ and 4G USB Routing?
Here are the steps you need to perform to get the 4G routed to the guest network, make sure both WAN's are up and connected
1. Enable the "Guest1-2.4g"
2. Laptop 1 connected to WiFi SSID = "Guest1-2.4g"
>>> For example the Laptop 1 gets IP Address = 192.168.1.100
Go to Advanced Setup <> Routing <> Policy Routing :
3. Policy Name = test
4. Physical LAN Port = wl0_GuestVD|wl0.1
5. Source IP = 192.168.1.100 (computers LAN IP)
6. Interface = 3G0/usb0
7. Default Gateway = Leave it blank
8. Click on 'Apply'
8. Go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ to check your Laptop 1 through which WAN
IP to access the internet.

Re: 7800DXL ADSL2+ and 4G USB Routing?
Really strange as it does not work for me at all.
the difference in your set up is I was not trying a specific address (192.168.1.100 in your example) ... i was trying a whole sbubnet.
but I have just tried the specific IP address that the client (iPhone 5s) is picking up ....192.168.13.32 ...and when checking whatsmyipaddress ... I still get my ADSL address.
I have even tried to leave the "Source IP" blank. ... same results ...ADSL IP

Under 'Status >> WAN' is the 'USB3G0' up and connected with a IP address??BadMelonFarmer wrote:Really strange as it does not work for me at all.

If not disable the 'Failover' function for the 'USB3G0' profile, check the 'Status >> WAN' and see if it is connected with a valid IP, then test again.

Re: 7800DXL ADSL2+ and 4G USB Routing?
hi,
yes, disabling the "Failover" option has made it work as you are seeing ... so great, thanks
BUT.... what will happen if my ADSL line does down ... will it automatically start using the 3G/4G connection as it would in failover .... and ONLY in a failover situation? apart from the traffic on the SSID we have just set up?

Not sure, I think it will fail over to 3G as the selected order shows under 'Routing >> Default Gateway'BadMelonFarmer wrote:hi,

thanks ... reading the description on that page it does imply that it should work as hoped.
will give it a go and see what happens.
Thanks again for your help

Seems to be working well, has not used up all my 4G allowance and I was streaming a lot of Netflix over the weekend
