Is this the Interface Address / Prefix Length option - so I manually add ::/64 to the LAN IPv6 interface address?billion_fan wrote:Maybe there is somthing in firmware version 1.06e that is causing the issue.
Normally when I setup IPv6 I have to add the IPv6 address followed by ::/64 to end of the IPv6 address to the DHCP server for IPv6. (Advanced >> Configuration >> LAN >> IPv6 Autoconfig) also enable 'Issue Router Advertisements'
I hope this helps.

Re: IPv6 not working on 7800N using latest firmware?
hi eightace
On our 7800N we config the Interface Address/ Prefix Length to same as our WAN IPv6 address but we use ::/64 at the end.
Also enable 'Issue Router Advertisements', apply the change and release and renew your IP address on your win7 machine or win xp machine (I have only run tests using these two machines)
On the WAN we use ::/56 at the end of the IPv6 address.
I hope this helps

Re: IPv6 not working on 7800N using latest firmware?
I got it working by just going back to 1.06e and using the basic config and entering ADSL user name and password and leaving everything to automatically configure
Your IPv4 address on the public Internet appears to be 81.x.xx.xx
Your IPv6 address on the public Internet appears to be 2001:8xx:caxx:7cxx:216:cxxf:fxxb:fxx9
World IPv6 day is June 8th, 2011. No problems are anticipated for you with this browser, at this location. [more info]
Congratulations! You appear to have both IPv4 and IPv6 Internet working. If a publisher publishes to IPv6, your browser will connect using IPv6. Your browser prefers IPv6 over IPv4 when given the choice (this is the expected outcome).
Your DNS server (possibly run by your ISP) appears to have IPv6 Internet access.
My mistake

Re: IPv6 not working on 7800N using latest firmware?
D'oh. I read this after I just carried out an upgrade to the 1.06e firmware. The reason I upgraded though, was that I couldn't get IPv6 autoconfiguration working on 1.06d anyway - either with stateful or stateless configured.
If I run a packet capture on my laptop and filter for ICMPv6 I can see Router Solicitation messages being generated but I'm never seeing any Router Advertisements coming back. If I configure up my laptop with a statically assigned IPv6 address then I can ping the router fine so it seems to be something odd going on with the RA/DHCPv6 process on the router.
From the comments above it sounds like there are known issues with this? If so, does anyone have any idea when a fix is likely to turn up?
Thanks
Dom

@DominicRoberts
Who is your ISP?
I am with Plusnet and am taking part in their IPv6 trial.
The 7800N seems to have problems with IPv6 / Plusnet, it is OK with IPv4 / Plusnet, see my earlier posts regarding this issue.
The TG582n is OK.
Another 7800N & Plusnet user has found that the 1.06b-6 firmware from the Australian website seems to work, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, do not expect support from Billion UK. It works for me as well.
I used Wireshark to check my 7800N and a trial TG582n that Plusnet have sent me for testing.
The 7800N does NOT reply to either "Neighbor Solicitation" or "Router Solicitation" ICMPv6 messages.
The TG582n does reply to both "Neighbor Solicitation" or "Router Solicitation" ICMPv6 messages, this is the behaviour I expected.
I can supply Wireshark capture files if it would help .

Re: IPv6 not working on 7800N using latest firmware?
@Pete-B
Thanks for that. I actually don't have a native IPv6 ISP connection at the moment, I'm using a Hurricane Electric tunnel which terminates on another machine. I'm just trying to use the 7800N to run DHCPv6 on the LAN (along with the IPv4 ADSL connection.)
At least it sounds like your 7800N is behaving in the same way as mine. I guess I can either wait until a new firmware update or get the Aussie version. I will probably take a look at the firmware....
Cheers

Re: IPv6 not working on 7800N using latest firmware?
Still having problems with IPV6 - if I config the router and leave everything as default and get IP address automatically I will have IPV6 but it seems to drop after a short while and only running config again and rebooting router will start up the IPV6 again.
Anyone else having the same problem?

Yes - I had the same problem with 1.06e though I just had to reboot, not reapplying any configuration changes. I downgraded to 1.6d and it works with no problems.eightace wrote:Still having problems with IPV6 - if I config the router and leave everything as default and get IP address automatically I will have IPV6 but it seems to drop after a short while and only running config again and rebooting router will start up the IPV6 again.

Thanks awaters - seems to have solved the problem. Are you using a Mac? Is your ISP Andrews and Arnold?
Don't know why more people have not had this problem.

My ISP is Andrews and Arnold but all the machines in my house are running Linux.
