The ZyXEL VMG-8924 allows you to turn off the LEDs, either by a schedule so you can turn them off overnight and have them come back on automatically in the morning (which I do), or by flicking a switch on the side!
As the VMG-8924 is also Broadcom and the same chipset as the 8800AXL I'm surprised Billion say they can not.
