This is a really informative thread but I have a slightly different setup and wonder if
anyone can answer a question.
I am also getting PlusNet IPTV (same box as BT Vision) and I have an 8800NL with Asus RT-AC87U router.
At present I have the 8800NL WAN in bridge mode (no wireless, DHCP, Routing, Firewall etc)
and use the RT-AC87U to do the full PPPoE connection, DHCP, Wireless, firewall and routing.
I have turned IGMP + IGMP snooping on in the ASUS router but the question is do I need
to setup any IGMP options in the 8800NL for the IPTV to work in this environment ?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, I will be trying this in next day or so (once I receive the IPTV box)
and will report back on the settings if I find the answers myself.

I don't think you should have to, as the 8800NL is only a modem in Bridge mode (so should pass everything over to the Asus)

Set-up Plusnet IPTV today with 8800NL in modem only mode and ASUS rt-ac87u
with IGMP+IGMP Snooping enabled and all channels working fine.
ASUS router is running Merlin software version 378.52_2 if anyone needs this detail.

HI

I also followed the same guide for Plus NEt but it would not quite work for me till i realised the guide was assuming i was connected via DSL but i am not.

I am still using the Ethernet Openreach modem. I managed to get it to work after changing the bridge type to Ethernet and all is good now.

However, do we need to use the Openreach model or can we select DSL at set up and plug the router directly to the wall, i.e. does the 8800 have a VDSL2 modem?

By now i have done a fair amount of Port forwarding etc. Will i loose all that?

Thanks

Yes you can use the device as one box solution (plugged directly to the phone socket) you will need to create a DSL >> PTM >> PPPOE profile to do so

Yes port forwarding rules will need to deleted and re-added, as these are setup for a PPPOA ATM interface (ADSL) not a PPPOE PTM interface (FTTC/VDSL)
