Hi Billion. Fan, yes it is dropping the connection as the connection clock restarts, seems to do it at any time. The ip should be set to static as I have downloaded port forwards ip program to set it as static.

Hi mike1970

Only BT can provide you with a static WAN IP (this service normally costs more), are you referring to DDNS? Can you provide me with example of the program you have downloaded?

As BT is your ISP, they provide you with a WAN IP address, if you have requested a static IP from BT, then your WAN IP will never change.

Try enabling SRA , that might let it just adapt the line speed without a reset, if that's what's happening.

It's possible there's an exchange fault as you've just been moved over to an ADSL2+ system (even though you connect as ADSL/G.DMT).

If this is a very recent problem that sort of coincides with the switchover I'd contact BT.

What about the original BT router , a home hub I guess , what does that do?

BT Homehub does the same but you can only get a speed of about 1.8mbs and the 7800N gets over 2.3mbs and once has managed to get 2.8mbs.

Dial 17070 and select option 2 quiet line test and listen for any noise.

If you hear load noise crackles or clicks report it to bT as a fault but do not mention broadband fault.

I'd contact BT but with the HomeHub connected. Seems like a line/exchange issue to me, definitely not a Billion problem.
