Took a gamble and bought a new 7800n. This one connects much faster than the ebay special i returned.........matches the speed of the netgear.

Talktalk TV works with the WAN settings on there own.........no need to do anything in the VLAN part...............This also means it works for me over powerline plugs.

Hope this helps someone.

I'm trying to get the Billion 7800N working with Talk Talk TV......

added the bridge and vlan exactly the same as screenshots, saved and restarted router. TV box plugged into port 4 (via powerline adapters).

Now the TV box fails to assign an ip address from dhcp.

What am I missing?

Below is the output of dumpcfg. I'm guessing the port to eth mapping is backwards (eth1.5 is lan port 1 and eth1.2 is lan port 4)

Hi Sheepie

Could you post some settings? - I'm also trying to set up with powerline adapters direct from my 7800N

Thanks, C

Hi

you just have to add the bridge for IPTV, see attached screen shot.

The powerline adapters just work.... nothing to do on them except plug em in :)

Thanks for that...

I'd removed the vlan settings as you'd suggested previously to no effect. The tv box has been getting stuck at the "Nearly ready" screen. I thought this might have occurred when I swapped over to the 78oo from the TT modem but I switched it back in with the same result. Checking the TT forums seems there is a common problem with the set top boxes. I was able to reset and download installation software using my Billion and can see the STB in the DHCP table so guess its a TT problem (sigh)

I have just spent all night trying to configure my 7800N for talktalk TV. Can someone help me with some step by step instructions on how to do this? I would be very grateful for any help.

Hi there

This will only work with a wired connection (or using wireless extenders) - there is no wireless on the youview box. Mine's set up in port 4

On your 7800N

Go into Advanced Settings, Configuration, WAN, WAN profile and then do the following:
Under protocol select the drop down and select "Pure Bridge"
Change the description to "IPTV", change the VPI / VCI settings to 0 / 65 and the Encap. method to LLC/SNAP-BRIDGING
Then press the "Add" button

You should now have a second line appear in your WAN profile

Save Config and then hit Restart (Use current settings)

You should be good to go

PS My previous problem was a hardware failure (the box got stuck in nearly ready mode) and was fixed by getting a replacement (common fault - TT reacted promptly and replaced within days).
