I could be totally wrong but the xDSL training is for fibre is it not?
You haven't actually stated that you're on ADSL or Fibre.

In which case you can't directly connect the 7800N to the phone socket , you need either the Sky router or an Open Reach Modem (just for the fibre connection) and then the 7800N for everything else.

As you already have the 7800N there's no problem using that with the Sky SR102 just covering the VDSL side of things.
My son is doing that quite successfully.
Also the wireless on the 7800N is far superior to that on the 8800AXL , which we returned due to poor wireless coverage. Probably due to no external aerials.
