Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help. I’m currently trying to connect an old 7800N wirelessly to a 8900AX2400. Have tried various config settings with no luck at all. Have a followed a few guides found on the internet but still nothing. I thought I’d struck gold when I saw the WDS setting (I’d been trying bridge mode and various combinations for days but I now think this is wrong) but still struggling.
My current set up is as follows:-
8900AX
IP set as 192.168.1.254 with a range 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.199
Using the Wireless 2.4G – Security is set as WPA2-PSK
Wireless Bridge Restrict is set enabled (have tried this disabled) and the correct MAC address of the 7800N is entered
7800N
IP set as 192.168.1.120
DHCP is disabled
WDS is enabled, no AES key in entered and the peer WDS MAC address is entered
Under wireless security – mode is WPA/WPA2-PSK
The correct password to join the 8900AX wireless network is entered
I “think” I’m close but then again I may be miles off!!
This morning I reset the 7800N back to factory and entered only the info above just in case something was screwed up. Have restarted the 8900AX just as a final attempt to kick things into life but nothing at all. I’m testing the connection by pinging the 7800N from a desktop connected directly to the 8900AX.
Any pointers as to where I’m going wrong?
Thanks

Re: Connecting 8900 to 7800 Wirelessly
It is most likely down to known issues with WDS compatibility between different chipset vendors, as they are different 8900 = Broadcom, 7800n = Ralinkcossie23 wrote:Hi,

This was the same issue with the 7800DXL and 7800N WDS compatibility
What you can try if you are willing to accept a lower wireless security level, is try to set both devices to WEP security, and see if they connect then
Things to make sure
1. SSID is the same
2. Wireless channel the same
3. Security type and password the same
