I understand that the most stable firmware for 8800NL is 2.32d.dh65 and that it has being used by many on this forum but I am unable to find a link for it, I will appreciate if somebody can provide me with download link. Thank you

In a few days from now, I too will be installing 2.32d.dh65. I can never remember whether it's necessary to do a Restart (from within the router's GUI), once all the configuration settings have been re-entered. In my case, I'll be opting to go back to factory defaults, rather than using the existing settings. That's because I'm making fundamental changes to my Internet account.

Do you happen to know whether a Restart is essential? Also, in dh65 is there a specific Log Out feature? In dh14 there isn't.

You can try upgrading with 'Current Settings' option if you run into issues reset back to factory settings and manually reconfigure

No logout feature (just close all browser windows and sessions/tabs to logout)

Considering the kinds of changes I'll be making to my settings, I think it'll only make sense to go back to the factory defaults and then insert all my settings afresh.

Billion-Fan, you've not said whether, when you've finished entering all the new settings, a Restart would then be necessary. Will it? If you don't do a Restart I'm thinking that it may be possible that the router doesn't properly retain all the new settings. In one sense, restarts can be troublesome, in that DLMs on VDSL connections could misinterpret one or more restarts as a sign of reduced line SNR and so end up unnecessarily lowering the line speed.

I note from your reply that 2.32d.dh65 doesn't have a Log Out feature. Never been happy about that, you know. In dh14, I found that, as a consequence, you could sometimes get into the router GUI again without needing to use the username and password.

You don't need to restart once you have applied your new settings

If you clear your browsers cookies, you shouldn't be able to get to the router's webpage without entering the username and password.

Must admit I hadn't thought of that one. But are you sure that what you contend is the case? At present I have some Billion cookies in place, but I'm pretty sure they've come from using this Forum, not from using my 8800NL. At present I'm finding that I have to sign in to the router when I wish to use its GUI, which is the opposite to what you say will happen. This is the first time I've come across anyone saying that cookies apply to a LAN gateway device, rather than just websites out there on the Internet.

Your statement will, of course, hold true regardless (that's why I think you might be drawing the wrong conclusion), but what you infer is that if Billion cookies are left in place, it should be possible to bypass the router login. As I say, that's not the case on my computer at present. Not having to sign in seems to be totally a random occurrence.
