For pretty much all of the ownership of my 7800N (a few months), I have often suffered with a slow/bursty connection with many 'page cannot be displayed errors' on both wireless and wired devices.

On this router (and previous ones), I have tried to keep my DNS settings optimised using DNS Benchmark, and have noticed that with the 7800N, the software reports that a large percentage of the DNS resolvers used in the test are unreliable.

Trying the same test using another router shows no such signs.

Presuming there is a DNS-based issue, I have tried using various DNS servers, and also allowing automatic (ISP) DNS detection. This have been done on both the router and PCs, but no change.

I have also tried turning off intrusion detection, and have updated to the latest firmware.

Is there anything else I can try to get a more stable connection?

Not sure if you are located in the UK but here is a list of DNS servers you could try http://www.whatsmydns.net/dns/uk/

My ISP is TalkTalk and I've recently set my router and TCP/IPv4 Properties to theirs but found pinging their Secondary of 62.24.243.2 was some 6ms quicker than the Primary, so have swapped them around.

Setting yours to your ISP's servers rather than auto may give you a better experience, but as this only occurs on the 7800N then perhaps a Power Cycle may help as well.

After you have set them up, run the following cmds as an administrator from the cmd prompt and let us know how you get on.

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
exit

I have managed to solve this for now by giving out the DNS via DHCP rather than using the router as the DNS server.

Turn off "Use Router as DNS Server" in LAN > DHCP settings.
