Firmware/Kernel corruption? (7800N)

Has anybody heard of this happening?

I rebooted my 7800N this morning just because it had been connected for a month 24/7. As a hobbyist coder, I worry (probably needlessly) about memory leaks degrading the connection. Stuff like that. So I reboot it occasionally for no other reason than that.

Anyway, it wouldn't reconnect to the internet when it restarted. I checked all the settings, which seemed fine, and even restored a backup config file... but to no avail. I noticed lots of entries in the system log about kernel panics and mismatched things... and I could kick myself for not making a copy of them, but I was just desperate to get the thing back online.

The firmware was 1.06g.

I only managed to solve the problem by visiting this site on my Nexus 4, downloading firmware 1.06h and upgrading the router. It connected immediately and the system log suddenly looked fine.

I've owned my 7800N almost two years. A sign of age maybe? I hope not.
