Routing Traffic

Post by FunkMaster »

Hello All,

I've had the 7800DX for a couple of months now but haven't configured anything clever with it, but thought I would give it a go now.

I've managed to configured on the 7800DX a VPN client connection to a VPN Service.

I have a device on my network (a NAS server) with a static IP address. What I am trying to figure out is how to route all internet traffic from this device via the VPN connection?

Is this possible?

Hi FunkMaster,

Did you ever find a solution to this? I am about to do the same thing and was wondering if you got it working.

Thanks

Revert to this post viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3330

On the PPTP client screen shot you can see a 'Default Gateway' tick box, this will enable all traffic to be routed over the VPN tunnel (so all devices that are connected to the router will be routed through the tunnel, also shown on the screen shots, you can see the WAN IP of the router is different to the screen shot of whatsmyip.org)

Sorry I clearly didn't read this all that well.

I am hoping to route just one device through the VPN and everything else through my standard connection.

Is this possible?

I had a look at the policy routing page. Is there a way to set up a policy route to go through the VPN when it is not set to the default gateway?

I can connect the VPN without the default gateway set and traffic doesn't route through the VPN which is perfect. I think I just need a gateway address for the policy routing to go through the VPN.

I could be wrong though.....

I gave up on this ... The UI is so clunky and the manuals quite vague.

Disappointed though as this router was well over £150 when I got it.
