7800N Wireless failing

Hey chaps.
My family has had this router for approximately 12 Months now and up until now it has been faultless. About a month ago we noticed a change in the stability of our connection. Initially I thought it was down to the ISP possibly throttling our connection as we are guilty of being heavy users (who isn't these days?). My suspicions changed when I noticed lag when connecting to the router's control panel, which is normally instantaneous and pretty swift in cycling through menus etc. So I pinged the router using cmd.exe and found that the connection was lagging substantially and also showed signs of packet loss.
Now, it doesn't do this all the time. This only seems to happen under heavy load; for example if someone is using Netflix then everyone else on the network will experience wireless lag and drop outs.
Is this a known problem? Can it be fixed?
Be advised that I believe my product is now out of warranty. It was purchased from Amazon.
