8900AX 2400 dying!

Disappointingly, I think my 8900 is going through death throws. It's not that old!
a couple of times this week port 4 has given out and now port 3 is on the blink
I'm having run things through a network switch on one of the remaining ports
wifi circuits appear ok
the system log is full of critical kernel warnings
i'm still running 2.52.d27
is it beyond hope?
suggestions for a fix or replacement much appreciated

Try a firmware upgrade

1. Make a backup of your config so you can always revert the firmware and restore the config if needed
2. Try using the attached firmware (upgrade with factory default settings and a manual reconfiguration needed)
3. Disable power saving options under 'Advanced Setup >> Power Management'

Thanks Billion Fan

I've updated to 2.52.d46. I backed up my config settings and then reloaded them from the file. d46 stayed in place. was that OK? All power saving settings disabled. Fingers crossed!

one problem has appeared that is perhaps something to do with the new firmware is that my two TP Link TL-WA801ND wireless AP's in my garage and annex are now both throttled down to about 6Mbs each. there is 23Mbs coming in and they generally sit just below that. They are in ports 3 & 4. any thoughts.

PS I posted regarding my other forum accounts. I haven't received password resets.

Can you try plugging a PC to either LAN port 3 or 4 and check the speeds, so we can rule out the LAN port failure. (I assume the LAN LED for LAN port 3 and 4 are on green meaning a gigabit connection)

Thanks for swift reply. They are both fine now.
I switched them before upgrade but left them plugged in. rebooting them again sorted the problem. back to 20+Mbs on both.

Rule 1 of IT: switch off and on again!!

PS both are amber. they are only 300Mbs AP's Fine for my needs.

It may be that the car was dialling home and clogging bandwidth :D

Hi Billion Fan

Since upgrading firmware this morning, I've had a look at the system logs
there's a lot going that perhaps shouldn't be. the errors are similar to pre-upgrade.

I've attached a PDF. perhaps you'd be kind enough to take a look

many thanks

The only thing I can see is ports 2-3 going up and down seems they only connect @100mbps

To confirm try plugging a PC directly to either port and leave the device up for hour a so (with power saving off on the PC so the LAN card does not go into sleep mode) and see if the same logs occur for that port.

They can both run gigabit. I have shuffled cables around and I know I always have 2 amber and 3 green.
those two ports are the garage and annex WiFi AP's.
There's a TP link TL-WA801ND in each, that's why they are low.
If there's nothing to worry about, that's fine
Logs are clear this morning
Thanks BF

I’ve got a number of entries in the system log:

Jan 19 14:18:53 kern warn kernel: br0: received packet on wl0 with own address as source address
Jan 19 14:26:45 kern warn kernel: br0: received packet on wl0 with own address as source address
Jan 19 15:47:55 kern warn kernel: br0: received packet on wl0 with own address as source address
Jan 19 16:24:50 kern warn kernel: br0: received packet on wl0 with own address as source address

I don’t know the exact cause but I’m guessing that as my wifi AP’s have the same SSID & password, roaming a device from one to the other and being within earshot of two AP’s is causing a problem.

Can I test the theory and can I cure it?
