Hi all, just wanted to ask if threre is anybody on here who can help / advise with an issue im having perhaps not router related but perhaps so' why is it I can receive emails on iPhone 5 over wifi connection but am unable to send ? I can send and receive on 4G no problem its only on wifi i am unable to send ? Message says the connection to the outgoing server smtp.btconnect.com failed' and yet when away from my billion 8800NL using other wifi networks I can send and receive emails? Appears to be a setting within the home router maybe ?
Thanks in advance of any advice given...

Without the actual error I can only speculate but, try changing the SMTP port to 587 in your mail client (IIRC BT residential blocks port 25).

Hi , thanks for your suggestion, tried changing the outgoing server port from 25 to 587 but the device wont accept that.
Thanks anyway

Also check the SMTP settings to ensure you are using the correct server settings

Proceed as follows in order to check the configuration details:
1. Look at your iphone4 whether access to the Internet, using wifi or 3G
2. Check the settings - Mailbox - The mail server POP3 server, SMTP server is filled out correctly, including inspection port.
3, check the DNS, see if you can resolve the POP3 domain.
4. Check the mailbox account logon password is filled in correctly.
