8800AXL with static IP

I have just set up an 8800AXL router with my ISP, IDNet in anticipation of moving to FTTC on Friday, but I have been using it on my existing ADSL2+ connection in the mean time. If I configure it to automatically get the IP numbers from IDNet everything works fine and I get both IPv4 and IPv6 numbers, and I can access IPv4 and IPv6 websites.
However, if I try and configure it manually with the correct static IPv4 number and a valid IPv6 number, I get no IPv6 connectivity and according to the system log it is still acquiring the IPv4 number from the ISP. IPv4 connectivity is still fine though.
I have done exactly the same thing with my 7800DXL router and I have no problems whatsoever so it can't be an ISP issue. It isn't critical except that I wanted to set up a Thinkbroadband Quality Monitor on both the IPv4 and IPv6 numbers, hence the need for a static IPv6 number.
Any thoughts?
