Can't Get Zen Fibre Connection To Work on 8800AXL

Hi,
I have just brought an 8800AXL and am trying to plug the VDSL2 line directly into it bypassing the BT ECI Modem. I have tried without success to get it working, the XDSL line does not sync and I don't get any flashing lights or a steady green light.
I have examined the logs and have found the following error messages in the log, relating the DSL modem software module, I wonder whether anyone can shed any light on this. I suspect by having looked around the forums that the modem on the 8800AXL is faulty. Here are the log entries I found :-
Mar 30 20:26:03 daemon warn kernel: AdslCoreHwReset: AdslOemDataAddr = 0xAFFAF608
Mar 30 20:26:15 daemon warn kernel: *** BcmXdslCoreMaintenanceTask: Resetting XdslCore
Mar 30 20:26:15 daemon warn kernel: lmemhdr[2]=0x100CE000, pAdslLMem[2]=0x100CE000
Mar 30 20:26:15 daemon warn kernel: pSdramPHY=0xAFFFFFF8, 0xA4C93 0xDEADBEEF
Mar 30 20:26:15 daemon warn kernel: *** XfaceOffset: 0x5FF90 => 0x5FF90 ***
Mar 30 20:26:15 daemon warn kernel: *** PhySdramSize got adjusted: 0xF0B34 => 0x1274F0 ***
Mar 30 20:26:15 daemon warn kernel: AdslCoreSharedMemInit: shareMemSize=43757(43760)
Mar 30 20:26:15 daemon warn kernel: AdslCoreHwReset: pLocSbSta=8a088000 bkupThreshold=3072
These entries just keep repeating in the syslog, so I suspect this is due to a hardware error. Can anyone from Billion comment please? As I say, this is a new unit so I didn't expect it to be faulty. I have the connection working through the EWAN connection and the ECI modem without issue, it's just plugging the DSL line straight into the DSL port on the router does not work nor sync.
I look forward to any input!
Damian.
