Terrible Throughput on ADSL (Resolved)

I have just bought a 7800N to replace my aging Homehub 1, which has taken to needing a reboot everytime I do any heavy downloading/streaming.
However, although the 7800 syncs at 15,285 down, 828 up, the throughput is only approximately 1mb/s as shown by both speedtest.net and the BT test. Changing back to the Homehub, (sync is a tiny bit higher at 15,323/828), a speed test gives results of around 10mb/s at the moment, which is about right for peak time.
I have verified these figures a couple of times, and after reboots etc, and they are consistent.
Any ideas, why the throughput is so low on the 7800? At around 10 times slower than my Homehub, it doesn't seem to be a wise investment!
Some stats:
