BT YouView Setup on Billion 8800AXL

I have just ordered BT Youview and discovered on their Demo Video that a BT HomeHub 5 is required, but I stopped using that awhile ago as it was a load of rubbish and bought the Billion 8800AXL which is brilliant. I think I may have set it up correctly from a link I found but I would like confirmation of the settings please, otherwise I will have to cancel my BT order as I will not go back to the HH5.

Thanks Colin

Check out this link as I posted about plusnet's upcoming IPTV service - there is a link there that staff provided with a pdf as to how to configure the billion: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3764

Thanks, that was the one I used, but I only asked again in case it was different from BT Vision (their old system) and the 8800AXL. I will soon know when my box arrives on Tuesday.

Thanks again

Colin

Let me know how you get on with the guide fella - plusnet are about to release their IPTV and would be good to know how you get on too.

Rick.

Awesome - did you configure the Billion before switching on the Youview?

Yes I configured it several days before. The box arrived on Saturday and I set it up for the Youview bits but obviously the extra channels from the BT Player did not work. Then on Monday night I reset the box back to defaults and shut off the Billion for good measure and then on Tuesday I turned the Billion back on while I was having breakfast, during which time I got the email from BT stating it was active. I then fired up the box did all the setup and low and behold it was all working great.

Hey Colin,

Ah, so you set it up before BT confirmed all was live?

I will wait for plusnet to confirm I am live (lol) and then configure the box - i was going to do it in advance but will wait.

Cheers,

Rick.

I have just come across a problem with the setup for the BT Youview box. When recording a non IPTV channel there is no problem, but if I record an IPTV channel it does record OK but it makes ALL my lights on my TPLink 1Ghz 5-port switch flash like crazy along with all the lights on the Billion as well and in so doing it disables all communication on the 2.4GGhz wireless channel. The 5Ghz channel seems to be unaffected (which our mobiles use). I only have 2 devices on the 2.4Ghz channel, my Canon printer (which is normally off) and my Medion LifeTab which is where I first noticed it as I only use it occasionally and I just happened to be recording an IPTV channel at the time.

I cannot see how the hard wired BT Youview box can interfere with a the 2.4Ghz wireless channel, so has anybody any ideas as to what the problem can be as I have looked through the Billion settings and nothing is obvious and all wireless settings are on their defaults.
