Billion 7800

I have recently upgraded to BT Infinity from broadband - was using Billion 7800 very happily with Devolo networking. Now I can no longer seem to use either despite having altered settings. Really grateful if someone could guide me on whether it is possible to use Billion or do I have to use Home hub only

I have read this but frankly do not really understand where I am making connections or how to establish diferent IP address - do I assume that the only connection between HH5 and Billion is ethernet cable between the WAN and EWAN ports and that all other cables including phone line are coming from Billion? Is there any point in using the Billion - I had hoped that it could replace the HH5 and that I did not need both

If you are using the older 7800 series (white casing) then follow the steps below

1. Login to the 7800
2. Click on 'Advanced >> Configuration >> LAN'
3. Change the IP address to 192.168.2.254 (as the BT home hub 5 runs off 192.168.1.254 this will cause a conflict) and click on 'Apply'
4. The Bipac 7800N should save and reboot
5. Once rebooted you will be re-directed to http://192.168.2.254, which is the new IP address of the 7800N
6. Click on 'WAN' (basic memu)
7. Change the 'Main Port' to 'EWAN'
8. Make sure the 'Protocol' is set to 'Obtain a IP address automatically'
9. Click on 'Apply'
10. The device will save and reboot
11. Once rebooted, plug a Ethernet connection from the BT Home Hub 5 to the EWAN port on the 7800N

Now finally you need check the WAN IP address the 7800N has obtained from the BT Home Hub, this can be found on the 'Status' page of the 7800N listed under 'IP Address' (it should be listed next to 'Netmask'), once you have this, please login to the BT Home Hub 5 and enter this IP address into the DMZ section

My Billion is 7800 DXL - can I therefore replace the BT home hub with this model following these instructions?

If you are on BT infinity (FTTC/Fibre) service, then you still need a fibre modem connected to the phone line (eg open reach modem), and the modem will then connect to the EWAN port on the 7800DXL, then setup the 7800DXL for a Ethernet WAN connection, using PPPOE with your ISP username and password entered

If you are on ADSL, you can replace the BT home Hub with the 7800DXL, following the quick start option once logged into the router.
