Talk Talk Fibre problems connecting/authing

Hello, (Carbon copy from my talk talk post)
Since yesterday had issues connecting until earlier hours of the morning so back on the BT open reach modem, and terrible Huwaeii solution. (Which I struggle with secure connections and more then one user on, especially Iphones, worst routing solution ever)
Starting messing around with the router config thinking it was my router at first, forgot to make a decent backup of the config.
So I decided to look at how I set it up.
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=449
Went through to Amazon reviews of the product and used this last time.
"What you need to do is click onto the configuration section and click on the WAN section go to your PTM0.1 connection and click the "edit" button... on this screen select "IP over Ethernet" from the top dropdown... then change the VLAN mux ID to "101" and change the 8021P to "0", finally change the MTU to 1492.... and click "appy" that should be that!!!"
But for the life of me I cannot get it to connect to the server.
Anyone any clue what I'm doing wrong. Or if something has changed.
On latest firmware

If you click on 'Status >> WAN' does your IPOE WAN interface show a IPv4 address??

No IP address, just constantly refers to connecting, in overlay you can see the speed of the line. Just not connecting.

Are you on talktalk's business service or home service??
For talktalk business, you need to change the 'Type' from 'IP over ethernet' to 'PPPOE' then enter your talktalk username and password in the sections provided, then finally 'Apply' the change.

Home user, it's been working before outage in the outage I changed the config and messed it up.
I updated to the latest firmware, I'm now wondering if it's firmware issues, as I did that after the outage thinking it might be a bug. But clearly something isn't right.
Is it possible for the RJ-11 cable to be the problem, though I'm still convinced it's an auth issue. I vaguely remembering it took a few full factory resets to get it setup last time.

I don't think the firmware or RJ-11 cable is the issue.
Try resetting the router back to factory default settings, then login, click on 'Configuration >> WAN >> WAN Service' click on the edit button for your PPPOE/PTM interface, then change the type over to 'IP Over Ethernet' ensure the VLAN mux ID is set to "101" and the 8021P to "0" leave the MTU as default, then click on 'Apply' and check to see if you have internet connection after a minute or so. (you can also check under 'Status >> WAN' for a IPv4 address)

That worked but now it's struggling to load some sites, this being one of them, and struggling to load images on google etc, even when changing the DNS.
Any more ideas, could that be due to the max MTU?

It could be, I think talktalk's MTU settings are 1432.

talktalk mtu link wrote:Please note: There is one exception to this rule with TalkTalk fibre routers. They normally have the MTU set to 1500 and you should not change this to 1432.
