Trying to resolve adsl connection issues - Need suggestions.
Posted: Sun Aug 30, 2015 1:45 am
I am posting here to get some feedback suggestions relating to issues I have been experiencing over the last few hours.
For the past hour my 7800N has been dropping connection to my ISP - No re-sync of the line is involved the internet light either goes dark or turns orange.

A) I logged into my ISP's customer management and for these disconnects it listed port-error but also Lost-Carrier I haven't seen this before any ideas?
B) I see LCP terminated by peer - What does this mean is it an issue at my end?
C) Also I see Chap Authentication failure - However with the same login details I am currently connected. Again is this an issue my end?
D) Also I have configured the ADSL connection as PPPoA with an MTU of 1432 - why am I seeing daemon pppd[3064]: Couldn't increase MTU to 1500. I would have thought I wouldn't see this message?
E) Also when I get disconnected I see daemon pppd[1796]: PPPoE: Terminating on signal 15. daemon pppd[1796]: Connection terminated. Again why would PPPoE be involved in terminating the connection?
Is the router misidentifying the equipment at the exchange as PPPoE?
I will be honest a majority of the router logs I don't really understand. But the LCP terminated by peer is new.
I have had issues on and off with my connection and been told I have a noisy line - I have never experienced this Noise in voice calls, if it exists it only seems to affect the broadband side of things. I have replaced the micro filters am plugged into the bt test socket on the master phone socket 24/7.
Any feedback is appreciated.
