Router as a DNS server

When the 7800 is set to act as a DNS server (DHCP advanced config), is it a caching server, please? If it is, that's all to the good, as it will reduce the response time for looking up cached addresses to almost zero. If it isn't, it's not clear what advantage it offers; in fact, it will slightly increase the overall response time for all lookups. Many thanks.

If you check “Use Router as a DNS Server”, the ADSL Router will perform the domain name lookup, find the IP address from the outside network automatically and forward it back to the requesting PC in the LAN (your Local Area Network).

Thanks for responding. I take that to mean that the router doesn't cache the results of lookups; it has to go to the outside network every time.
