Only half speed with 7800n. Can anyone help?

I was wondering if anyone on these boards could help me out with a problem with the speed of my 7800n router. Im a talk talk customer on llu service and I changed my router from a Linksys wag120n because of the poor wifi range. The wired connection speed of my Linksys router is around 13-14 mb and still is, but the speed of my 7800n router is 5-6 mb. I also have a tp link w8960n which i got off ebay second hand but was getting the exact same speed as the 7800N router (around 5-6mb) as all setting were the same as my Linksys router so i thought maybe this modem was faulty so purchased the 7800n but this is exactly the same as the Tplink. Why are the two so called better routers showing 5-6mb when the Linksys is showing 13-14mb. Would realy appreciate any info on this matter.

Thanks for any reply
Brian.

Hi Wolfman99

Can you post your ADSL status page, so we can check your SNR reading and ADSL sync rate.

This is the status page of the 7800n. The lInksys is above. Im getting 14mb download speed at the moment with the 7800n but this sometimes happens when i first plug it in or reset it, then it drops to around 5.8mb and stays there. It never gets any faster no matter what time of day or night it is.The Linksys stays at 13mb constant. I used 3 different speed test sites online and they all show the same results.

Certainly the sync speeds are far better with the Billion.

Are your speed tests done wired or wireless? If the latter are you on the same channel as the linksys or not?

Hi Thanks tinytim. All the tests ive done are wired i dont seem to have a problem with the wireless connection they are almost the same as the wired connection. I get around 5-6mb wireless when the router shows 5-6mb wired and 12mb wireless constantly with the Linksys. Im still getting 14mb on the Billion which i cant believe as its never lasted longer than an hour before its dropped to 5-6mb. I wonder if its anything to do with having both modems plugged into 2 different telephone sockets. (only 1 modem switched on at 1 time) I only had this set up to test the different speeds as both sockets show 13mb with the linksys and 6mb with the billion. Could there be a conflict even though i only ever had 1 modem switched on at 1 time? Ive only got the Billion plugged in at the moment and thats the only difference from the 100's of tests ive tried before. Will turn the Billion off and plug the linksys in the other socket, do a speed test, turn the linksys off and re try the billion with the linksys still plugged in. Im going insain  Thanks for the help and i will let you know unless anyone already knows that this could cause a conflict?

SOLVED!!
Well it was as I thought.( After over 24 hrs of 14mb on the Billion). If i plug the Linksys in any telephone socket and use it even if the Billion is off. The next time I connect with the Billion after having turned the Linksys off my speed on the Billion drops to 6MB. I used the Linksys from another socket as it was plugged in for an internet tv. How stange is that? The linksys was never effected speed wise but the Billion is. Here is the Billion Status page with both modems plugged in but only the Billion is on..

Status

ADSL Status
Parameters
DSP Firmware Version A2pB025f.d22k
DMT Status No Defect
Operational Mode ADSL2+
Upstream 550
Downstream 6827
SNR Margin(Upstream) 12.4
SNR Margin(Downstream) 11.8
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 8.3
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 18.0

The downstream has dropped from 18122 to 6827. Anyone have any idea as to what might cause this?
Thanks again for your input.

I find my 7800n is slower than my Linksys WAG320 by about 2mbps only advantage the Billion has is wifi range
