Viewing ADSL uptime

Post by keith_thfc »

First post after getting my new 7800N yesterday.....

Is it possible to view the ADSL uptime anywhere? I can see the system uptime in the Status page but this doesn't appear to change if a re-sync is performed.

Assuming its not possble, does the System Log record each time the ADSL link goes down/up?

Cheers all

The Home page isn't dynamic as you view it but if you were to go to another page, when you returned you should see the new uptime and it should reflect any new resyncs.

When a resync has been effected, the system log would normally show the date as Jan 01 along with a progressing time stamp until connectivity has been restored and then it will show the correct date and time stamps.

I don't know why your router is displayng as it is, perhaps billion_fan will have an answer for you.

I can only see "system uptime" on my status page - which remains constant even if the router re-syncs.

What firmware does it show as using, the current is 1.06g which can be downloaded then installed using a wired connection from http://www.billion.uk.com/esupport

You can also raise a ticket on this site for tech support.

billion_fan will be better able to advise you on this but he could also advise you to raise a ticket with tech support should it require a RMA.

I thought "system uptime" referred to when the router was last powered on - but if you are saying that this should reset itself after each sync then maybe I've misunderstood this.

Have raised a ticket so will see what Billion say.

When the router has either been switched off, manually reset or following a disconnect, they would count as resyncs, the System Uptime would then reflect that as it records how long a connection has been maintained and is reset to zero each time there is a resync.

If the System Uptime display doesn't reflect how long it has been in sync, then that would indicate a fault, but the next time you boot up, log into the router and make a note of the uptime and when you're about done browsing or whatever, log back in and the uptime should have incremented by the length of time since you last checked.

Hope this clarifies.

The "system up-time" is since the last reboot or power cycle.

On the Status page under the WAN section for ADSL is the time since the last connect or re-sync , under MER I don't think we get this information.

Using ADSL whenever I resync this connect time is reset as I would expect it to be.

Am not sure what MER is - forgive my ignorance.......

In my WAN status I can see the "Connection" section where it should be showing elapsed time but I just see the word "Up". Could this have anything to do with my settings?

I'm on the Be*/O2 network so have to use MP0A protocol, as per the user guide. Could this have anything to do with it?
