Seems to be a non issue? Hmmm

Post by seang00 »

Hi all,

I've had my billion 7800n a little over a year and half now and this issue has always been here. Through every firmware from b to g its hanging around like a bad smell.

I only come across it (as far as i know) when I'm playing counterstrike source. When I look into a server to see the players, I usauly get server not responding message and there are no players displayed. Now joining servers is never a problem, it's only when i request to see whos playing. After I have pressed the refresh key about a dozen times it might work and the player names are displayed.

I reasolved this slight annoyance be using QOS. By putting in a simple rule about high prioity for my PC it did the trick, every time I checked a server it worked first time just like all my routers before the 7800n.

Now that i've switch from adsl+2 to vdsl the use of QOS is a problem. My throughput with QOS maxes out at 34mb (just like a few others in this forum), but with QOS off i get the full speed of 66mb.

Does anyone know what could be causing the issue? Seems strange the 7800n needs a QOS rule for such a simple request all previous routers (cheapo ones included) had no problem with this.

Thanks for reading

Hi seang00,

Thanks for the QoS fix for the 'server not responding' issue. It affected most online game servers I pinged and this has fixed it.

Sorry I can't help with your problem though, just wanted to say thanks.
