Hi,

New to this forum so this is my first post.

Looking to replace my Belkin modem/router because it is giving trouble,after a lot of searching on line I find a great many good reports for the 7800N.

It would seem to fit my needs,I don't require dual band. However,I am a little concerned with regard to some people reporting that the wireless has failed after a fairly short time. Can anyone reassure me on this point? I also note that the 7800N is very good on long lines and wonder if it is suited to short lines. I am fortunate to be very near to my exchange and get good sync. with attenuation of 4.5. I know many would be very happy with that so do doubt the 7800N would also give a good connection. It is just the wireless side that I am bothered about.

It may be naive to ask such a question on the Billion Forum and expect a unbiased reply, but here goes anyway!

Well, here's my unbiased reply ... I've had my 7800n for about 4 months now. It's given me perfect service from day 1 and is in continuous use wirelessly streaming tv & radio, plus other stuff, all over the house. Maybe other people have had different experiences, but mine have been very happy.

I've had mine coming up to a year , it's been faultless.

The wireless is fine all around the house - we've a large house - with iPhones , iPads etc connected.

It's true that some have had problems with their 7800N failing and have had to RMA, but I've had mine since July last year and thanks to the Broadcom chipset would have experienced many more disconnects with an ISP Infineon chipped router because of dropping of SNRM on an evening and on a Downstream Atten. of about 50dB.

It may not sync as high as some routers, but it normally gives you a good solid connection and with your Attenuation, you shouldn't have any problems at all.
