Time schedule / wireless mac filter

Hi, I see there is the ability to 'time schedule' the Ethernet MAC Filter but not the Wireless MAC Filter... Why oh why..?

I want to have the ability to stop my daughters wireless access after a certain time, a Wireless MAC Filter with time schedule would have done the job... why have they missed it out of the firmware..??

Any ideas how I can get around it and stop her having wireless access after a certain time (not by switching the wireless off altogether)...

Thanks

You can use the firewall feature to drop the connection at set times.

Guide below

ok thanks...

Still not ideal as fixing her ip address causes problems when she takes her laptop to friends etc...

Mac filtering would still be much better and they have missed a trick by not including it on the 'wireless mac filter' page...

Perhaps you could pass on the request if you have contacts..?

There is no need to fix a IP address on the laptop, use the "Fixed Host" option on the router, so the laptop will always get the same IP address from the router. (the laptop will still be sent to obtain a IP address automatically)

I would recommend you post your feature request in section below

Unfortunately the solution is not secure, as your daughter can configure her laptop to have a fixed IP instead of using DHCP which would then circumvent the packet filter.

Shame the packet filter can't take MAC addresses, or better still have a security feature that ensures if there is a fixed host entry, all other traffic from the MAC address on a different IP is dropped.

Agreed, or just add the ability to 'Time Schedule' to the Wireless MAc Filter... Job Done.! :-)
