Connectivity Issue

Hi everyone
I just bought the 7800N. I have set it up no problem for wireless. Everything seems to be working (iPad, laptops, Apple TV, etc...).
However, I have tried plugging the 7800N via Ethernet cable to Devolo dLan DUO home plugs to feed the Sky box and desktop computer and I am not connecting to the internet.
Troubleshooting on the desktop gives the problem as "the DNS server is not responding".
Furthermore, when the router is plugged into the homeplugs, it seems to affect the wireless internet connectivity with my laptop. Wireless connectivity to other products seems fine.
The ethernet ports on the router work as I am currently directly plugged into one with my laptop. It is only when the cable is plugged into the home plugs that the issue arises.
Could anyone help me? Is this maybe an IP address issue between my laptop and maybe the desktop? Or am I missing a setting within the router setup?
