Hi,

I have a 7800n router connecting to a BT Business broadband line with a Public IP range and the router address within the range.

For Example:- These are made up addresses

Useable Range 81.137.65.241 - 81.137.65.245
Network Address 81.137.65.240
Router Address: 81.137.65.246
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.248

I need to utilise these Public IP addresses on a 7800n so I can provide public services and needed to know how I can do this as the router get a different IP from the ADSL port / WAN which appears to be dynamic.

I've seen other people using the configuration tab to enter in a public IP address based upon port forwarding but this doesn't appear to work on my setup. If I use the current IP address assigned to the ADSL port / WAN I can get to my services but I need to use the static range I have and not a dynamic one.

I'd appreciate some direction on this.

Have you tried to add your static IP to your WAN section, to it should now get your static IP instead of your dynamic IP.

Then use the one to one NAT option on the router.

On the one to one NAT section you can add all your external IP address and then add them to your internal IPs.

Then on the computers you have just set, check your external IP address (http://www.whatsmyip.org) and it should have a static WAN IP address you set in the one to one NAT section.

I've tried assigning the WAN port on the profile page to the in router IP. This didn't work and the ADSL connection kept trying to connect but never did.

So I tried adding the in range router IP to the one to one NAT page and assigning it to the ADSL port. This still didn't have an effect.

I added the external IP to the incoming firewall rules as well but nothing was being routed to the in range IP's.

Any other idea's?

Have you tried the NO NAT setup??

Setup the router as normal, eg broadband username and password etc, then set your LAN IP to 81.137.65.246 on the router, so you will now have the correct IP set.

Then disbale NAT, and within the DHCP set the range to remaining IP range eg 81.137.65.241 - 81.137.65.245, or you can turn off the DHCP server and set all devices to static IP's within the range of 81.137.65.241 - 81.137.65.245 and set the default gateway to 81.137.65.246.

That should be it, the router should be now assigning your static range to devices, without NAT. (so you should be totally exposed to the internet)
