Save settings before factory reset?

I needs to do a factory reset for a firmware upgrade on my 7800n
Beforehand, is there a way to 'export' or otherwise save my current settings (port forwarding, fixed ip, time slots, mac filters, dns, phyr etc) so that I can read and reset them later - manually, as I can't do a 'restore config file' after a firmware upgrade.
Wondering if there is a smart way put back all the settings rather than just rely on my memory.
Any advice?
Thx

In preparation for the upcoming UK version of the new 7800n firmware, I saved the configuration and then printed it out. I then went through with a highlighter pen and marked all of my extra/changed settings making a note where something was not shown e.g. a password. Can't think of a better way, sorry!

Any old text editor will do. The configuration file is just text.

I just tried this but I may be looking at the wrong config file because it doesn't seem to have a lot of my configuration in it (e.g. my static IP settings etc). I used the Backup/Restore screen where you can save a .CONF file to your computer. It's not exactly easy to dissect either so am I looking at the wrong file?

The file saved will be named config_1.06g.conf - assuming you're on 1.06g firmware. That'll be in your browsers download folder.
The best program I've found is Notepad++ which is free. It formats things quite nicely for you - much better than notepad.

Thanks. I have got the right file then and I discovered that Wordpad makes it more legible than Notepad (for a change!). I will check out Notepad++ though, it does sound rather useful

thanks for your help with this.
it's strange that there isn't a more graceful way of doing it
