Really getting tired of this piece of kit.
First 8800axl went into meltdown with too many faults to mention.
Billion has kindly sent a replacement under warranty just a couple of weeks ago.
As per the first router all has been great for the first while. Now today, I can't connect to the router admin page. Its just timing out - wired or wireless. Also, despite all the lights showing both 2g and 5g wireless broadcasting, None of my wireless devices are seeing the 5g network.
Rebooted the router (turned it off and on) and for an hour or so, I could get into the web interface. Now, its gone again, just timing out. Internet access via 2g and wired appears to be working fine, so what is going on? I was advised to buy this router as a quality piece of kit...
Working on sky fibre with basically all default settings, apart from i changed the 2g broadcast to autoselect a channel and operate on 20/40mhz.

OK, so every few hours my new replacement router needs a hard reset before I can access the web admin page.
Has anyone any clue or advice why this is happening and how to fix it?

Have you tried using the new firmware ETEC8800AXL_2.32e.dh4.afw found on the attached link

Upgraded firmware has made no difference.
Did it about an hour ago and hey-presto, the web admin interface is unavailable again.
All internet access seems ok, but it leaves me with no confidence that this could be a second faulty router I have been sent. Further, the inconvenience of not having access to the web admin page without a hard reset...
very frustrating.

Have you tried to change the routers LAN IP, also change the web management port, to ensure you don't run into any conflicts, (if you change the web management port, you have to contact the device on this new port eg 192.168.1.254:8080

No Joy.
Things getting worse (again).
Got up this morning and no wifi access. Both 5g and 2g showing on ipad but neither connectable.
Rebooted router.
Took your advice and changed LAN IP and port whilst I had access to the admin screen.
1 hour 20 mins later and the admin page is again unreachable either through wifi or wired.
Given the router is now beginning to require rebooting to even get a wifi connection, I assume its time *AGAIN* to send it back for *ANOTHER* replacement? I'm not sure I even want another one, both have exhibited the same faulty symptoms within weeks or months of setting up. Perhaps its me, given the strange circumstance of 2 routers being faulty??? The Sky router the Billion replaced worked flawlessly... I had 3 reasons for buying Billion -
- 1gig ethernet
- ability to use alternate DNS
- 5g
Its just not worth the hassle of manually rebooting the router every day to get these things.
I assume I can get a full refund from the original retailer given the first router was purchased within a year and accepted as faulty by Billion?

Best to check with the retailer
