High latency between laptop and router in 802.11n mode.

I've been using a new laptop for about a month now, which has an Intel N6235 wireless adaptor. When I got the laptop I set the 7800n to n mode only and it worked fine. However, in the last few days I've had problems with very slow browsing, and using Pingplotter discovered that there was high latency occurring between the laptop and the router. I changed the wireless mode to 802.11b/g, channel 1, and it's instantly back to normal. Before that I tried using 802.11g+n, which still produced high latency.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this on n mode and is there a setting I'm missing to enable it to eliminate the latency?

Have your tried the following

1. Change the channel width to 20mhz
2. Change the channel the router outputs on
3. Disable WMM

I had tried changing the channel - no difference, and WMM is disabled, BUT I've just changed the channel width to 20MHz and that seems to have made a BIG difference! Why should that be?

Some devices are more compatible with 20mhz
