Evening All

I have recently purchased the 8800Nl router for the additional features available over the standard SSE technicolour router.

I have the username and password details from SS&E and have received the following information from the SSE technical team which I am struggling to reconcile with the 8800NL settings.

PPPoE(RFC2516)

VPI/VCI, (0.38) VC / LLC-based multiplexing (default), Username (bb service username), Password (bb service password), Service
Name(TNCAP), and Domain Name System (DNS)192.168.1.1 (tg589) 192.168.1.254 (tg582n) Depending on model of router IP address is dynamically assigned when customer tries to connect.

I am on the SSE Ultrafast Fibre

Can someone assist or give me some advice on the right questions to raise with SSE.

Sorry resolved this. The quick start procedure does not work but when I change he default configuration for PPoA with the SSE login details everything works fine.

Billion 8800NL R2 Setup for SSE.... that worked for me - Hope this helps.

1. Login to the router on http://192.168.1.254
2. Use the username 'admin' and password 'admin' to login
3. Click on 'Configuration >> WAN >> WAN Service'
4. Edit the profile listed under 'PTM Interface' by clicking on 'Edit'
5. Change the 'Type' to 'PPPOE' if needed
6. Check the '802.1P Priority' is '0' and the '802.1Q VLAN ID' is 101
7. Enter your SSE broadband username and password in the sections provided, (eg 9DigitNumber-energy@ssebb.co.uk)
8. Click 'Apply'
9. Click on 'Advanced Setup > Default Gateway' send 'pppoa0' over to 'Available Routed WAN Interfaces' so that only 'ppp1.1' remains in 'Selected Default Gateway Interfaces'
10. Click 'Apply'
11. Click on 'Advanced Setup > DNS'
12. With 'Select DNS Server Interface from available WAN interfaces' checked, send 'pppoa0' over to 'Available WAN Interfaces' so that only 'ppp1.1' remains in 'Selected DNS Server Interfaces'
13. Click 'Apply' - You should now be able to get online.
14. Final check...
15. Click on 'Advanced Setup > Diagnostics > Diagnostics'
16. First test may appear under the banner: 'Test the connection to your local network --- pppoa_0_0_38' IGNORE THIS. Click on 'Next Connection' at the bottom of the table
17. You should now see 'Test the connection to your local network --- pppoe_0_1_0.101.101.101.101.101' ... This matters.
18. Hopefully your connection test should be populated with something like this....

Test LAN Connection ( P4 ) FAIL --- no problem ... if not in use
Test LAN Connection ( P3 ) FAIL --- ""
Test LAN Connection ( P2 ) FAIL --- ""
Test LAN Connection ( P1 ) PASS --- this is the one I am using to setup
Test LAN Connection ( P5/EWAN ) FAIL --- no problem ... if not in use
Test your Wireless Connection PASS
Test the connection to your DSL service provider
Test xDSL Synchronization PASS
Test ATM OAM F5 segment ping DISABLED
Test ATM OAM F5 end-to-end ping DISABLED
Test the connection to your Internet service provider
Test PPP server connection PASS
Test authentication with ISP PASS
Test the assigned IP address PASS
Ping default gateway PASS
Ping primary Domain Name Server PASS
