PPPOA for ADSL
PPPOE for EWAN when connecting to a fibre modem

Billion_Fan, can you confirm for connecting to a vsdl modem that ethernet should be set to PPPOE or IPoE please, confusion over on the 7800DXL board on what is the proper settings for BT HH5

On the 7800N the setup methods is as follows

Sky ADSL - PPPOA
BT/PlusNet ADSL - PPPOA
Talktalk ADSL - PPPOA
BT/PlusNet Fibre - EWAN >>> PPPOE
Sky Fibre - EWAN >> Obtain a IP address automatically >> Client ID (in the client ID section enter your username and password that is extracted from your current Sky Fibre modem/router with a '|' inbetween eg username@skydsl|password
Talktalk Fibre - EWAN >> Obtain a IP address automatically

When using the HH5, as the device can't be configured in modem only mode, the only option is to use IPOE (7800DXL)

1. Make sure you change the IP address of the 7800DXL so it does not match the same subnet as the HH5, eg HH5 - 192.168.1.x, 7800DXL - 192.168.2.x, once the 7800DXL obtains a internal IP address from the HH5, DMZ this IP address within the HH5

I would leave the firewall on, on both devices, as both devices will have access to the internet
