VLAN turns all ports except EWAN dead - bug ?

I am trying to set up VLANs on a Billion 7800N, Firmware 1.06g., IP network is 192.168.23.x. I want two groups. One called "office" with only ports 1 to 3, and another called "public" with port 4 plus WLAN. However I tried both with port and tagged VLAN and it does not work: No port is working except the EWAN port that allows using the router as normal. There is even no DHCP being served on the ports.
Any advice is welcome. Mark

The VLAN function on the 7800N is only for IPTV, so you won't be able to isolate the ports.
The 7800DXL/7800DX/7800VDOX should be able to do what you want to achieve.

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you show me where this is documented ? The way the router is advertised they talk about VLAN and the user manual is talking about VLAN as well - no mentioning of IPTV as far as I can see. If your statement is true I am really disappointed about Billion.
-- just found it: VLAN is listed under IPTV on the box. Very disappointing: Much much cheaper routers offer proper port separation. And I would expect full VLAN support from a device in the price range of the Billion.

Hello Billion_fan
Is it a fact that the 7000n can only use vlan for IPTV. Because the docs say this is only an example of vlan not the only way. And if it is a fact is it a hardware limitation or a software limitation.
Thanks
Dan

Sorry the 7800n user guide page 93 and 94 on vlan setup. I am only asking because I am looking for something similar to the OP but am having problems with the gui. In particular when setting and vlan sfuff the modem starts acting funny. But I am just wondering if it is possible to do what I and the OP wanted using the cli
and that is why i am curious to see if it is a software limitation (ie the gui is not working) or a hardware limitation. If it is a hardware issue then obviously the cli tools will not work.

The VLAN option on the 7800N is only able to TAG a new WAN (PVC) to a LAN port, so it will not isolate the LAN ports.
This is a switch limitation.

But it is only a software switch (i think - can someone correct me on that ) so that can just be seperated and rorouted. I guess that is why we have telnet access?
In fact that is what seems possible. remove a port or ports from the original switch. create a second switch, give it an ipaddress. Two isolated subnets?
I will test it again tonight but it seems to work.
